Are You Shocked? Your Boarded Dog Might Be
Many of our clients prefer that their pets remain in the peace and safety of their own home while they’re away, it’s a large part of the reason why we provide in-home pet care services. While we believe that dog boarding may work out well for some people, there are a variety of reasons why we believe this may not be a great idea. We were disturbed to hear about a recent incident where someone picked up their dog from a local boarding facility to find that their dog was wearing a shock collar (without the owner’s consent). I’ve seen Cesar Milan use a shock collar in one of his episodes and he appeared to use it responsibly, but as a last possible resort. I’ve never used one personally and hope I never feel the compelled to do so. I find that when a dog is at home in their own familiar environment, the need for such devices are virtually obsolete, at least in my experience. That said, I would NEVER even consider using such a device on one of our client dogs, especially without the owners consent. Here’s a video of one of our local news stations that describe the event:
